General Pre-Treatment Guidelines

Two Days Pre-Treatment

  • If you have a history of cold sores or active cold sores, your provider needs to be aware before treatment so we can get you started on a prophylactic medication.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood-thinning medications if possible; this can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections. (Ex: aspirin, fish oil, ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, gingko biloba, alcohol, vitamin E, etc)

Two Weeks Pre and Two Weeks Post-Treatment

  • No skincare with active ingredients (Ex: Retinol/Retin-a, Lotion P50, Tretinoin, hydroquinone)
  • After any injection (dermal filler or wrinkle relaxer) wait at least two weeks for any type of facials, including our Biologique Recherche facials, DiamondGlow, OxyGeneo, microneedling, etc.
  • All services must be booked at least two weeks before any big event.

Four Weeks Pre and Four Weeks Post-Treatment

  • No sun exposure or spray tan.
  • Avoid dental work if treated with dermal fillers for four weeks afterward.
  • Space any laser treatment and dermal filler/neurotoxin. (ex: RF microneedling, IPL, ResurFx, Pico, fractional, etc.) four weeks apart.

Cosmetic Injectables and PDO Thread Guidelines

  • Schedule your appointment at least two weeks prior to a special event that you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood-thinning medications, if possible, for a period of two days before treatment including medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s wort, omega 3/fish oil supplements, ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS that have a blood-thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
  • Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages 24 hours prior to treatment as it may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising.
  • Do not use the following products two weeks before and two weeks after your treatment: Retin-A, Retinoids, or similar vitamin A compounds.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, please let your provider know as you may require an antiviral medication prior to treatment.
  • Reschedule your appointment at least two days in advance if you have a rash, cold sore, or blemish in the treatment area.
  • Be sure to eat and drink water before your procedure — this will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.
  • It is recommended that clients wait at least a week post-treatment to fly. Changes in cabin pressure can precipitate the worsening of any swelling or bruising.
  • Avoid dental work (including standard teeth cleaning) at least four weeks prior to treatment and one month following treatment.
  • Do not plan facial treatments, facials, facial waxing, chemical peels or microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment.
  • Do not plan laser/IPL or energy-based facial treatments for four weeks after treatment.
  • Studies show that smoking doesn’t immediately undo the benefits of a BOTOX treatment, but it will have an adverse impact over time, and tends to shorten the positive effects. If there is any bruising from the treatment, it may take longer to heal if the patient continues to smoke.
